We had the opportunity to participate in an ambitious project alongside Delaunay Vins & Domaines and Verallia: reducing the weight of the signature Les Jamelles bottles. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the search for more responsible packaging, combining industrial performance, aesthetic requirements, and a reduced environmental footprint.
Designed by glass expert Verallia in collaboration with Sobemab and Delaunay Vins & Domaines, the new lighter bottle weighs 420 g instead of 500 g, which is 80 g less glass per unit.
This is a major technical development that significantly reduces raw material consumption and transport-related emissions without compromising the quality or visual identity of this iconic bottle. Delaunay Vins & Domaines has thus managed to preserve all the elegance and uniqueness of its bottle while strengthening its CSR commitment.
For its part, Sobemab bottled these lighter bottles with the same level of quality, precision, and rigor as for the original version. Our teams ensured that this change had no impact on the presentation or preservation of the wine, demonstrating perfect technical mastery and an ability to adapt to new formats. This success illustrates our role as a key player in the implementation of concrete and sustainable innovations in the wine sector.
With several million bottles sold each year in France and abroad, the impact of this weight reduction is considerable: reduced energy and water consumption, a smaller carbon footprint, and optimized logistics flows.
The bottles are mainly produced at the Verallia site in Chalon-sur-Saône, in close proximity to our Sobemab bottling plant—an asset that reinforces the environmental consistency of the project and the logic of industrial proximity between partners.
This partnership illustrates our deep conviction that innovation, cooperation, and environmental responsibility are inseparable from performance and excellence.
By collaborating with committed players such as Verallia and Delaunay Vins & Domaines, Sobemab confirms its desire to support the wine industry in its quest for increasingly sustainable, local, and environmentally friendly solutions.
🌍 A fine illustration of our shared ambition: to move forward together, combining quality, innovation, and environmental awareness.
